  At first glance I thought it was real because lots of people sleep with sick animals to be right there if the animal needed care. I have done it my self when my horse was badly injured in a carting accident. Thou I slept in his stall and did not bring him into the house. Bringing a foal into the house for care is not unheard of expressly if its dam died in birth.
