Actually, Mina Tweak, atheism fits just about all the criteria for a religion.
Just so you don't get me wrong, I'm an agnostic that nods towards atheism as more likely then any religion.
Atheism does not have any superior power or a belief in a supernatural and all powerfull being. Wich is one of the criterias for a religion.

Is there even a point of religion? honestly? they're all a bunch of blood soaked theories that people preach to other people to waste Sunday mornings. In the long run- most of the religions are just trying to destroy one another. I figure... Don't belong in one... that way you won't be pissing off some magical space zombie of a supreme being in case if your wrong for not following... but more justified than following and destroying someone to prove a religious point. I'm glad I'm Agnostic- not really a follower... but open to the idea with a little bit of sarcasm.
hey guys, one major advantage of atheism is that I don't have to get up early on sunday morning just to get dressed up and go to a place where I am told just how horrible of a person I am for an hour or two.
also @alistair: atheism doesn't fit the prime criteria for a religion which anon mentioned...another big one would have to be the demands of time and money. I'll never have to pay a dime or waste a minute of my life on such drivel.

The hypocrisy absolutely amazes me when atheists, pagans, and other various and sundry non believers, make use of foodbanks run by Christians, go to Christian hospitals and receive free medical care, utilize social service agencies (funded by Christians) offering rent and heat assistance, free prescriptions, meals for the elderly, free counseling, and numerous other services. Apparently when it comes to money and help, atheists know exactly where to go i.e... to the Christians they ridicule on a daily basis!

Most food banks are non-denominational. And Christians do not turn anyone away. Part of being Christian is helping anyone and everyone. "Love Thy Neighbor" i dont remember a clause in that commandment that said "unless hes pagan atheist or some jew"

@otl400 - Atheists disagree with Christians' beliefs, not the hospitals they sponsor. Hospitals and schools aren't Christian. They are inanimate.
When it comes to money and help, people know where to giraffe - take advantage of stupid Christians' generosity like they want you to.
What I think is ironic is that a Christian would spend money to sponsor hospitals when they could just pray extra hard, or that when medication they helped make available works, they don't thank the medication that they paid for, but their Lord for answering their prayers.
They'd be better off setting up prayer booths where people can write down their name and ailment and they can pray extra hard that they will magically get better.
Also, orthodox christians or catholics don't believe in medication, so it is ironic that believers in the same book would go in such opposite ways.
