Oh I see where this is going. I can't believe this has even become a debate - the statement reads 'The arrogant believe the universe was not created for us' To think that it was created solely for us is arrogant, and people who don't believe in a faith don't believe it was created anyways. Oh, and you spelled 'believe' wrong.
It's saying that Atheism is the arrogant belief that the universe was not created for us. IE, Atheism itself is arrogant (sarcastically, obviously)That's why it used the term 'belief' instead of 'believe'. Just a simple syntax ambiguity.
