Coconuts can be scary when falling from a height. Sharks hunt only at night/evening so it's fairly safe to swim in daylight :) Sorry - I just know some more things than usual people do :)
No matter how little of a threat statistics say that they pose to humans, sharks are STILL fucking terrifying, the comments above are invalid.
To some people spiders, cars or even birds are terrifying :) If you know the threat you have/don't have to be afraid. I know the threats and I'm not afraid :P

It may be suprising, but coconuts kill more people than sharks attack :) (even when this attack is only a probing one)

How often when someone is swimming in the ocean will a coconut descend from the sky and kill them on impact? This scenario is probably less likely than them going into the same ocean and getting their limbs eaten by a shark. Since you know...sharks are in the water where coconuts can't reach you. Also I f✡✞king hate those statistics "HURR HURR COCONUTS KILL MOAR THAN SHARKZ GUYZ". Its f✡✞king apples and oranges, you can't compare things like that. Usually someone is only scared of being attacked by sharks when they are in open waters, not when they are sitting below a f✡✞king coconut tree. So don't offer "comfort" with a fact like that. P.S. Don't say "I just know some more things than usual people" because honestly all you told me is a useless tidbit I could find on a snapple cap.
Statistics are the only way to compare two things objectively. It's not a good way, but there's no other way.
One time, I was under this coconut tree, and I was choking on some food when I saw someone get attacked by a shark, because "Approximately 200 Canadians die each year as a result of choking on food." Oh wait...I'm not Canadian, so that doesn't apply to me? :B
