"Obama-Nomics", as you say, IS much better. With the trickle-down approach, taxes are cut for the rich, so their money(they have more of it now) will "trickle down" to those less fortunate. This seems nice in theory, but never works. Also, even IF it did get to the people who needed it most, their taxes would still be high, so it wouldn't matter anyway. By "Obama-Nomics", you probably mean the bailout, as Obama has been in office only FOUR months, and therefore, hasn't had time to make any other huge economic policies. The bailout does seem very unfair, but consider the alternative, doing nothing. Many in favor of doing nothing thought our economy would hit "rock bottom", and then start to get better. This would not happen. In fact, economists assumed the economy would not go bellow "rock bottom". It already has. This was a cause for action. If President Obama hadn't signed the bailout, our economy would be in a much worse state than it is now.

What you all fail to realize is that the top 10% wealthiest people pay 70% of our nation's taxes. When taxes are cut, they have to be cut for the rich because otherwise the amount being cut would be so small as to be meaningless. Sorry, but 20% of your taco bell income doesnt quite do as much as 40% of Bill Gates'

Z: You do realize that the rich actually don't pay that much in income tax because most of their income comes from investments, which have a 15% taxing cap on them, right? Sociologically speaking, the working poor are the most heavily taxed.
Josh is obviously much less the economist. I have to wonder how, in light of the current credit crunch, reaganomics is by any length still an acceptable policy. The man it is named after had no interest in economics, and even less skill; those who defend his economic successes are those who do not understand the slightest shred of what those entailed. Obama has made a tough choice with the stimulus package, but what else could he do? The American populace, ignorant as they are, fail to realise that by letting all industry crumble, so will the American economy. Keynesian economics seems the only option now, and most people who talk about economics haven't the slightest idea about anything of the sort.

I love it when I hear, "The top 10% pays 70% of the taxes, oh woe is them." They MAKE 70% of the income in America. Do you idiots honestly believe they should pay the same as those who make much MUCH less. And how poor do you think people who don't pay taxes are, huh!?!? Do you even have any ability to fathom that level of poor? What do you think it's $30 k a year? I'll give you a hint, I make $18k, and granted I get a bulk of my income tax back each year, but I still pay taxes. I do not get 100% return on my taxes. So you need to make LESS then that and probably have kids.

The 80s were a period of prosperity like no other is US history. More minority millionaires were made, charitable contributions were sky high and jobs were always available. A rich business owner is more likely to hire someone than a homeless person. The tax cuts allowed people to hire and expand the business. Both Reagan and Obama's economic theory are so ill-informed on this board that I am a little bit depressed about it.
